The crème de la crème of Hollywood, fashion and music worlds will descend on Paris this weekend for the royal Kimye nuptials.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s rumored Versailles (or Florence?) May 24th, wedding has the world watching and waiting with bated breath. What will the bride wear? Will North crawl down the aisle? Will Kanye finally smile? How soon will they divorce?
With only 100 on the guestlist, the intimate, and if we know anything about the Kardashians, extravagant affair will be an unforgettable and custom affair replete with the best money can buy. But did you know that some of Kardashian’s best accessories throughout the years have been her Jewish friends? We count the top five Jews in Kardashian’s life.
1. Lorraine Schwartz
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but a custom15-carat Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring is a girl’s soul mate. West proposed to Kardashian at San Francisco’s AT&T Park with the help of a Jumbotron displaying “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!.” But more instrumental was the flawless ring Jewish jeweler to the stars, Schwartz, designed for the couple. Here she posts a photo of North West holding the ring.
2. Alber Elbaz
Kardashian’s new favorite designer Alber Elbaz, the creative director of Lanvin, one of the world’s most respected fashion houses. Elbaz, the Israeli Moroccan designer has made a name for himself in the high fashion world. He recently dressed Kardashian for her Vogue cover story and the 2014 Met Gala. (Elbaz is on the bottom left)
3. Scott Disick
Let’s just call him Jewish-boyfriend-in-law. Older sister, Kourtney Kardashian’s long-time boyfriend Scott Disick is a Long Island Jewish boy who has become part of the Kardashian klan and made a name for himself as Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ black sheep with a drinking problem.
4. Jonathan Cheban
The title of Kardashian’s BFF goes to none other than PR extraordinaire Jonathan Cheban. The Russian Jewish native of Fort Lee, NJ ascended up the celebrity ladder as a PR consultant to the stars to eventually become Kardashian’s best friend. Kardashian even executive produced his short-lived reality show The Spin Crowd. He will no doubt be front and center as Kimye take their vows.
5. Bar Refaeli
The second Israeli on the list is one of the world’s most popular supermodels, Bar Refaeli. Kardashian and Refaeli have become friends over the last few years and the Israeli beauty and Leonard DiCaprio’s ex is among the select few to be invited to the wedding.
You are cordially invited to the biggest celebrity wedding of the year.
Well, Bar Refaeli is.
The Israeli supermodel is among the 100 guests who received an invitation to the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West wedding over the weekend. The ceremony is set to take place in Paris on May 24. The three apparently became friendly during Paris Fashion Week in July 2012. Tres chic!
According to Haaretz, the invitations were printed on simple paper in gold lettering, with little information (guests will reportedly receive further instructions upon arriving in Paris). However, the invite did come with a 15-page pamphlet of the dos and dont’s of Kimye wedding etiquette.
Needless to say, Instagram is a no-no. Bar Refaeli will have to leave her 1. 3 million followers at home.
“It’s hard to imagine that we sold out The Armory!” beamed Claudia Gould Director of the Jewish Museum at its February 26 Purim Ball which raised a record $2.5 million.
More than 1,000 festive donors dined on a fabulous meal beneath a ceiling installation of 3,000 T-shirts with such imprints as: “I Love Esther” and “Got Spiel?”
Honoree Anshu Jain, co-chief executive officer of Deutsche Bank, was introduced by BlackRock, Inc. president Robert Kapito, who said, “Queen Esther was a Jewish queen over what was part of modern day India… and Ahasuerus reigned from Hodu to Kush which is the Biblical word for India.” Jain affirmed his familiarity with the Jewish community noting that Indian tradition also hones to “twin views of praise and guilt.”

Purimspieler Jessica Williams, a correspondent on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with John Stewart,” greeted the guests with: “Hey everybody! Hope you are ready for this, ‘cause it’s about to go down tonight…. There’ll be a lot of Twitter and Facebook and Instagram…. To all the older people — good luck!”
Delivered in Rap and Twitterese, Ahasuerus is King Aha-Tsurus, “the biggest rapper in the U.S., whose crew is De Persian Statesmen who won a lot of Grammys and hangs out with Warren Buffet. King lives with wife “Vashti Knowles” aka “Queen V [Beyonce], so popular she sang at President Obama’s” Inauguration. Theirs is a “life of fame, glamour and of course — anti-Semitism…. Aha-Tsurus has a beef with a Jewish gang, The Jew Tang Clan — a gang not to be messed with… It was rumored that the Jew Tang Clan killed [two major rappers] so he vowed to make the Jew Tang Clan his sworn enemies…. Aha-Tsurus was famous for anti-Semitic lyrics like, ‘What you not a fan, got murdered like the Jew Tang Clan…homey lookin’ real skittish, whatsa matter with you at least you don’t speak Yiddish.”

According to Williams’ hip-hop spiel “Aha-Tsurus held a party with a lot of twerking strippers — ‘who don’t count as humans’— and tweets Vashti to get her “booty butt’” over to his 50-50 Club. No! He divorces her. The king needs a new “Boo” and orders his crew “’Go find me the flyest girl but she can’t be Jewish or from the Jew Tang Clan.” Mordechai, aka Mordy, appears as rapper and a former Jew Tang Clan alum. As for his adoptee Esther, Williams informs: “She has the advantage of being racially androgynous, not unlike [Grammy–winning] Bruno Mars.”
King falls for yoga-loving Esther. Another rapper — Haman West — a member of the Persian Statesmen and “a lot like Kanye West, hates and attacks Mordy. Esther “comes out of the Jewish closet” to save Mordy, the members of the Jew Tang Clan and herself. Haman gets exiled to his wife’s Kardashian-like reality show. King is no longer anti-Semitic, makes amends “with the Jew Tang Clan and others like “Jew Live Crew” and “The Old Money Boys.”
Williams concluded: “Esther is totally bummed she could not make it [here tonight] and ”she tweeted me to tell you that tonight celebrate goofy Jewish Halloween in her honor.”
Then came the after party and every guest left with a fun white T-shirt with the imprint “Body by Hamentaschen.”
Kanye West told a Chicago radio station that he wants to take back the “ignorant compliment” he made about Jews.
The rapper referred to a comment he made last month during an interview on the New York City radio station WWPR-FM. In defending President Obama’s difficulty in passing his policies, West said, “Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people.”
Kanye West is in hot water with Abe Foxman.
The Anti-Defamation League’s national director issued a statement today denouncing the rapper’s comment over the weekend that : “Black People don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people.”
“If the comments are true as reported, this is classic anti-Semitism,” said Foxman. “There it goes again, the age-old canard that Jews are all-powerful and control the levers of power in government. As a celebrity with a wide following, Kanye West should know better. We hope that he will take responsibility for his words, understand why they are so offensive, and apologize to those he has offended.”
So, if you’re not already aware, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West released a music video last week for the rapper’s song, “Bound 2,” which showed them engaging in some steamy business on a motorcycle.
It looked like this:
A good barometer of whether something is worth writing about or not is if Joan Rivers has anything to say about it. Another, higher (and rarer) measure of success is if she has something GOOD to say about it.
This week, the forthcoming Kanye West and Kim Kardashian nuptials win on both counts.
Upon hearing about Kanye finally popping the question to Kim — on her birthday, no less — Joan tweeted:
Our E! family is thrilled about Kim's engagement. She's a lovely girl, a hard worker and we wish her the best. Watch @ENews tonight for moreampmdash; Joan Rivers (@Joan_Rivers) October 22, 2013
Well, it seems people were so amazed at her lack of snark that the our favorite fashion cop had to send another tweet, assuring her account had not, in fact, been hacked.
NO-my account wasn't hacked! I'm truly thrilled for @KimKardashian and I wish her the very best. Can’t I send a nice tweet once in a while?ampmdash; Joan Rivers (@Joan_Rivers) October 22, 2013
While hosting “Chelsea Lately” last night, a newly released Lindsay Lohan opened by thanking her fellow celebrities for giving us all something to talk about while she was in rehab.
As you all know for the past 90 days, I’ve been on a lovely court-ordered vacation in Malibu, she quipped, adding: “I have a lot of people to thank, most importantly, the celebrities who kept the tabloid industry alive in my absence – like Anthony Weiner!” she said as a Weiner paraded onstage. “I would like to thank him for being such a dick, with an unlimited texting plan!”
Lohan was also to Kanye West “for acting like a baby and making a baby,” and Justin Bieber “for peeing where you shouldn’t, spitting where you shouldn’t and wearing your pants where you shouldn’t.”
Welcome back LiLo!
America’s most hated/loved celebrity made a splash during her appearance on “The Ellen Show” on Thursday when she was asked to impersonate singers based on a game that the actress often plays with her husband, singer Chris Martin. On the list? Jay-z, followed by Macklemore & Lewis, Kanye West and Beyonce.
Watch below, if you dare.
A lot of people don’t like Kanye West — which apparently makes him feel like Hitler.
“I walk through the hotel and I walk down the street and people look at me like I’m [expletive] insane, like I’m Hitler,” the rapper and awards-show hijacker told fans last night at a concert in England. “One day the light will shine through and one day people will understand everything I ever did.”
The Hitler comparison drew “light boos” from the crowd, according to a write-up in Australia’s Telegraph.
Former NBC CEO Jeff Zucker threw his son Andrew a lavish bar mitzvah at the Four Seasons this weekend — complete with sushi, a celebrity guest list that included Katie Couric and customized Converse sneakers handed out to Andrew’s pals as party favors.
But if there was one thing missing from the bash, it was an appearance by Kanye West, who demanded a staggering $1 million when the family asked if he would perform at the event. The New York Post reports that Zucker briefly considered offering West a mere $800,000 — but then came to his senses and offered the gig to Jewish rapper Drake instead (who accepted, presumably for a more reasonable price).
President Barack Obama and Jon Stewart. One of the pair is the most influential man in the world, and the other hopes to sway young Americans to show up at the polls and vote Democrat on November 2 with a TV appearance tonight.
The most influential of the pair is not the President of the United States, but Comedy Central star Stewart, according to an online survey cited by the Wall Street Journal: “In a poll conducted by AskMen.com, ‘The Daily Show’ host took the number one spot, 20 slots ahead of President Barack Obama.”
The comedian-turned-pseudo-anchorman-turned political activist also beat out Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Kanye West in the poll, as the guy most responsible for shaping 2010.
It might be the most daring lyric in the history of rap: an attempt at making something rhyme with “Ginzburg.”
But as he’s proven in numerous songs and public appearances, Kanye West is nothing if not bold, and he almost manages to pull off the “swerve/Ginzburg” couplet in one of his latest songs, “Christian Dior Denim Flow.”
The “Ginzburg” in question is two-time Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Esti Ginzburg, an Israeli who gets her own shout-out in a song full of supermodel name dropping.
