Bethenny Frankel Feels Nothing For New Jersey 'Housewife'

Former “Real Housewives of New York” star Bethenny Frankel feels no sympathy for her Jersey “Housewives” counterpart, Teresa Giudice, who along with her husband, was indicted on 39 counts, including bank and bankruptcy fraud on Monday.

My first thought today was, ‘Oh, if they weren’t on reality TV, none of this would probably ever be exposed.’ And it’s just funny how certain people are [like a] moth to a flame,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s almost like – not that you want to get caught – but people who love to be in the spotlight often have a lot of skeletons in their closet. It’s just an interesting thing.”

“I haven’t paid that much attention,” Frankel explained. “Do I feel sorry for them? No, I don’t. Not so much, because it broke the law. You broke the law and you went on television. That’s not really that smart.”

Frankel, founder of the Skinny Girl low-cal drink empire, was attending a TCA tour panel at the Beverly Hills SLS Hotel to promote her new talk show, “Bethenny.”

But Frankel, mother to 3-year-old daughter Bryn with soon-to-be ex-husband Jason Hoppy, does feel bad for the Giudices’ four kids. “I feel badly for them because they have kids,” she added, “and their kids didn’t sign up for this.”

According to the Huffington Post, the couple allegedly submitted fraudulent information to secure loans between 2001 through 2008, and failed to disclose business assets and earnings (including returns from “Real Housewives”) when they declared bankrupcy in 2009.

The Giudices were released on $500,000 bail and are due back in court on August 14.

Joe Giuduce, who isn’t an American citizen and reportedly didn’t file tax returns from 2004 to 2008, could be deported back to Italy. If convicted, the couple faces up to 50 years in prison.

One Direction's Harry Styles' Tattoo

By Renee Ghert-Zand

Tattoo aficionados continue to be intrigued by One Direction’s Harry Styles’ tattoo of his sister Gemma’s name in Hebrew on his left bicep. Either he or the tattoo artist had to have known Hebrew well enough to know an accent mark was needed over the gimel to denote the “j” sound at the beginning of the name.

Esquire may have named Mila Kunis the Sexiest Woman Alive, but the New York Daily News thinks she’s the shlumpiest. The paper has pointed out that the actress has been seen out and about almost exclusively in sweats and other sorts of casual wear.

And speaking of fashion, Jerry Seinfeld, caught by a reporter at Stella McCartney’s pre-fall presentation, admitted that his wife Jessica has forbidden him from wearing his signature white Nike sneakers anymore.

A number of celebs—including Liev Schreiber, Mandy Patinkin, Julianna Margulies and Paul Rudd— are participating in the “We Are Better Than This” videos for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

The latest on Bethenny Frankel’s divorce is that she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show, tearfully sharing that she feels like a failure because her marriage did not turn out like a fairytale.

Gerard Depardieu is not the only French actor wanting to leave France. Mathieu Kassovitz has said (again) that he has had it with the French film industry. He doesn’t really have a beef with French tax law; he just wants more freedom to be an artiste.

Adam Sandler must be pleased about winning the People’s Choice Award for favorite comedic actor. We wonder if he is as stoked about leading the Razzie nominations?

On the topic of awards, Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” is leading the BAFTA nominations, but the director himself was snubbed. And in other tough news for Spielberg, his “Robopocalyspe” sci-fi saga has been delayed indefinitely.

Screenwriter Mark Boal exhibited a sense of humor about the controversy surrounding “Zero Dark Thirty” as he accepted the best film award from the New York Film Critics Circle.

Poor Evan Rachel Wood took to Twitter to lament the public’s obsession with the lives of celebrities…like Evan Rachel Wood.

Remember that romantic Hawaiian get-away Lea Michele took with her beau Cory Monteith? Well, now we’ve learned that her parents Marc and Edith Sarfati were along for the holiday.

Do not count Howard Stern among the fans of “Girls.” The shock jock had absolutely nothing nice to say about the show, or about Lena Dunham, whom he called a “fat…camera hog” who looks a bit like Jonah Hill.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt fans will get a kick out of this video of the actor’s first interview, from back when he was 14 years-old and on “Third Rock From The Sun.”

In the latest celeb sightings we have: Jason Segel toting some “I Love NY” bags as he departed from JFK; Lea Michele in bright yellow at the Fox All-Star Party, and a mini hot pink number at the People’s Choice Awards (where she won for best comedic actress); Adam Levine appearing pleased to accept, on behalf of Maroon 5, the People’s Choice Award for best band; Rachel Weisz looking lovely in a floral print dress at a New York screening of her new film, “The Deep Blue Sea”; and a very put-together Anne Hathaway and hubby Adam Shulman at the National Board of Review Awards.

'Real Housewife' Bethenny Frankel Splits From Hubby

By Reuters

Reality TV star Bethenny Frankel and her husband Jason Hoppy are separating, Frankel announced on Sunday.

“It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating. This was an extremely difficult decision that, as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family,” Frankel said in a statement confirmed by her representative.

“We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority. This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us.”

Frankel, 42, and Hoppy married in March of 2010. They have a daughter, Bryn, who was born in May of 2010.

On Sunday, Frankel tweeted, “I am heartbroken. I am sad. We will work through this as a family.”

Frankel first attracted attention in 2008 on the reality show “The Real Housewives of New York City,” which chronicles the exploits of wealthy New York women. She went on to star in two other reality TV shows, “Bethenny Getting Married?” and “Bethenny Ever After…,” both of which centered on the couple’s marriage and child-rearing.

Frankel also founded the Skinnygirl line of cocktails, and has written several diet and self-help books. In 2012 she launched a talk show, “Bethenny,” which is set to air nationally in 2013.

How’s this for a blast from the past?

“Real Housewife,” talk show host and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel just posted on Facebook a photo of herself with the cast of “Saved By The Bell.” No, she never appeared on the show (if she had, the Shmooze would be hunting for that episode right now), but instead worked behind the scenes as a production assistant in one of her first Los Angeles jobs.

Bethenny Frankel Kicks Off New Talk Show

By Renee Ghert-Zand

In her latest project, reality TV star Bethenny Frankel is shifting the focus from what she has to say to what other women have to say…sort of. Her eponymous talk show, which begins airing today on FOX, will be about women (some celebrities, some not) talking about their lives.

But don’t worry that Frankel is going to fade into the background. “If we’re talking about something, I’m of course going to give my input as to my experience with that topic,” she said. “It’s not about me telling about my life. It’s about me learning about other people, and women learning about each other’s lives. It’s going to be a conversation. Of course I’m going to be in that conversation.”

Top Jews on Forbes Celeb 100 List

By Renee Ghert-Zand

Steven Spielberg is the top Jew on Forbes’s list of The World’s Most Powerful Celebrities. The director/writer/producer/studio owner came in at number 10 on the list of 100. Ahead of him were Jennifer Lopez, Oprah Winfrey, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Tom Cruise. But coming in behind Spielberg were another 90 celebs, among them a fair number of other Jews.

Among them is former Beatle Paul McCartney (who was reported to be converting to Judaism, so he’s kosher enough for the purposes of our Jewish tally) in the 21st spot. Radio shock jock Howard Stern was ranked at number 30, with film and TV producer Jerry Bruckheimer coming in at 39th. Further down the list are MOT funnymen Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, and Ben Stiller. Actress Sarah Jessica Parker and reality TV personality Bethenny Frankel pull up the rear in 86th place and 97th place, respectively.

Bethenny Frankel, Serious Actress?

By Michael Kaminer

Getty Images

The official website of Bethenny Frankel — the tireless “reality” self-promoter who most recently chronicled her crumbling marriage on Bravo’s Bethenny Ever After(http://www.bravotv.com/bethenny-ever-after) — describes her as a “bestselling author and natural food chef.”

Now, Frankel apparently wants to add “serious actress” to the list. UsMagazine.com reports Frankel just auditioned for a role in director Michael Bay’s upcoming “Pain and Gain,” based on “the true story of body builders in Miami Beach who headed a kidnapping and extortion ring that went awry,” according to HollywoodReporter.com. Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Ed Harris, and Tony Shaloub will star.
