The super svelte Gwyneth Paltrow threw caution to the wind and enjoyed some serious carbs while recently celebrating her 40th birthday in Italy. The paparazzi caught her living — and smooching — it up in Portofino with hubby Chris Martin of Coldplay.

Mayim Bialik channels classic TV housewife icons like Lucy Ricardo and June Cleaver in her new campaign for PETA. “It’s a no-brainer—throw it out!” says a poster showing the actress in 1950’s attire as she dangles a steak over a garbage can. In a related video, Bialik gives Jonathan Safran Foer’s “Eating Animals” a shout out as she explains her choice to practice veganism herself and to raise her children as vegans.

Alanis Morissette will be closing out her “Guardian Angel” world tour on December 3 in Israel. Israeli fans can expect to shell out between NIS 200 and NIS 700 to attend the Canadian-born Grammy winner’s concert.

Drew Barrymore and new husband Will Kopelman welcomed their first child, a daughter, on September 26. The baby’s name is Olive Barrymore Kopelman.

Gleeks may be interested to know that Sarah Jessica Parker’s smoky-eyed look on the show — she is currently making a multiple-episode appearance on Glee as Isabelle Wright, the fictional editor of Vogue.com — was inspired by Carine Roitfeld, editor in chief of CR Fashion Book and the former editor of French Vogue.

Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann’s visit to a Chicago area synagogue for Kol Nidrei services didn’t go down well with many of the congregants at Anshe Emet. At the very least, her presence was a distraction. Moreover, some worshippers walked out of the service, while others chose to show their disapproval by donating to her Democratic opponent’s campaign.

Joan Rivers thought that it was her place as a longtime friend of Prince Charles to give Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge some advice after her nude photo scandal. Rivers being Rivers, she made a crude joke of it.

According to writers Kyle Buchanan and Amanda Dobbins over at Vulture, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shia LaBoeuf (and Ryan Gosling, too) are poster boys for child TV stars who have transitioned successfully into adult actors. They even made a an oh-so-clever info-graphic to prove their point.

Jonah Hill, Sarah Silverman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have joined a bunch of other celebs on the “Vote 4 Stuff” initiative aimed at getting people to go out an vote on Election Day on issues that matter to them.

Veteran actor Ed Asner, raised Orthodox in Kansas, tells New York magazine a bunch of stuff, including that he’s not so into religion these days.
